The Techie Side of Coaching

So I missed entering my entry for the week of Oct. 18-22, but I did jot down some main points.

In my role as a technology integrator, I'm often encounter situations of a technical nature. Although my work mainly concentrates on the educational applications of technology, it helps to know so basic troubleshooting tips. Teachers don't want to hear that you "don't know" especially in a just-in-time situation. Usually, I try the basics like checking cords and rebooting as necessary. Occasionally I have to come up with a temporary work around. It's usually not the best but it keeps class instruction flowing until we can find a permanent solution. When in doubt I get my techs ASAP and we work to the solve the problem as a team and the teachers usually love the personal attention!

For these reasons (along with some others) I'm excited to learn about the fundamentals of networking, programming, and web design. I want to have a working knowledge of the technical side of my position, especially because increase my ability to be a team player.
