Back in Action

What's up? It's been a long time since I posted, probably because I continued to have reservations about blogging. What could I have to say that is so important to share with the world. I also found myself feeling overwhelmed with the all of the tech tools I was encountering in the first few weeks of my role as instructional technology coach. I knew two years ago that virtual education was the wave of the future, but I hadn't moved much beyond that. Now I'm ready, learning and experimenting with all sort of Web 2.0 tools. It's really alot of fun.

Now that our equipment has arrived, I'm excited to work with my teachers with tech intergration. The goal is to help match the right Web 2.0 tool with the right activity. I'm enjoying my new role so much that returning from maternity leave was bittersweet. It's hard to leave my little boy each day, but knowing that I'm going to work doing something that new and exciting is great.
Last week on my return from maternity leave one of the first things to do was to find out what have teachers been doing. I learned that Kieran has started a wikispace and is using a blog to encourage student communication and collaboration. Check it out: www.mr.kmclaughlin.wikispaces.com and http://kmclaughlin.wordpress.com/
Kristin Dunning is also using wikis for to post valuable information for her courses: www.shhsenglish9.pbwiki.com. Karen Spae found success with Moviemaker and visualization.

Here's my trying out another tool...my webcam. I can't wait unitl the district allows us to use Skype.
